With a hint of 'Film Noir' a surprising exploration of the evolution of the homosexuality of two adolescent boys . ..

I
n 1980 Jacques Duron produced this short (44 minutes) black and white film and presented French cinema a recording of the dynamics of two young boys coming of age as homosexuals.

Duron captured the metamorphosis of Philippe and Claude into sexual 'adulthood' from the cocoon of their boyhood friendship.

Philippe's recognition of his homosexuality and the blossoming of his passionate love for his boyhood friend Claude becomes an emotional obsession immersed in unrequited love and the futile longing for the tenderness that is not to be.

After toying with each others desires in an afternoon cafe there is a brief moment and a clue to be seen of Claude's journey as the two young boys are about to leave that cafe. Prior to leaving the cafe watch for Claude's reaction to the man on the street. That is a clue to Claude's divergent emotional and sexual journey which becomes distinctly evident in the climactic scene of the film.

". . .
but I do know,
we had precious
moments together . ."

A controversial film about the age of consent.

This short film is a move towards the mainstream for Norway’s arguably only bona fide underground film maker, Lars Daniel Krutzkoff Jacobsen.

”Precious Moments” is based on a 1997 trial, when a man in his thirties was convicted of having sex with a 15 year old boy. In Norway, the age of consent is 16. “The boy had replied to a personal ad the man had submitted in a newspaper, and they met for sex. Voluntarily, of course, for both parties.

The man was convicted and sentenced to 60 days in jail and 2 years probation. Another interesting point is that the boy was 15 years and ten months old, or in other words 56 days too young,” says the director, Krutzkoff Jacobsen. ”I’m not saying everything that happened was all that ’precious,’ but I can’t help wondering what the hue and cry is all about.”

The controversial director thinks artists should explore both society’s and the individual’s most tender spots.

He has made seven trashfilms, and his debut, ”Pudding” is recognized both as Norway’s first gay and first trashfilm.

Bravo to the students of USC for this
incredibly well done 5 minute short !

The Hustle . . Naivete . . Confusion . .

" Teenage Derik escapes his town for LA in search of something.
Lost in the city maze and seduced by a hustler . . . he finds himself"

This was an original short film project at USC (University of Southern California), which required student partners to creatively collaborate in making a non-dialogue short film at exactly 5:30 or under. In order to preserve the spontaneity of the moment essential to this story, the two leads were kept from meeting or rehearsing together until the camera was rolling.

In L.A., Derik discovers the open city lifestyle along with its dark underside. When a hustler seduces Derik, he gets fleeced. But when the pimp blows their cover, Derik desperately searches for his wallet, finds it, and escapes their web. He jumps onto a subway, and discovers that the hustler spared him his cash: he remembers the passionate kiss. Derik returns home with a clearer understanding of his own feelings and the self-confidence of a stronger individual.
