"A savage drama about a man’s search for love, leading him into the dark sexual underbelly of Paris. A lesson in tolerance of all aspects of love and self discovery."

"I Dreamt Under The Water" marks the feature film debut of director Hormoz aka Hormoz Borbor. The film is based on his short film of the same title, and the feature film retains the original cast.

"I Dreamt Under The Water" is an extremely erotic, dark and plodding film on many levels including Hormoz's unique directorial style. The film has minimal dialogue, and most of the story is revealed by carefully constructed scenes presented in a fashion true to the consistently unique qualities of French cinema.

In this savagely poignant drama, replete with brute emotion and raw lust, a young man takes many wrong turns down blind alleys in his search for affection and understanding.

Angel-eyed Antonin (Hubert Benhamdine) is a young man who is desperate for love and wallows in unrequited love for Alex, a sexy, enigmatic lead singer in a band. Alex however is also a heroin addict, and when he succumbs to an overdose in Antonin's arms, a devastated Antonin recklessly indulges the depths of his pain by descending into the dark heart of Parisian nightlife, a seedy, nocturnal world of public gay sex, hardcore rounds as a prostitute and the extremes of self-destruction.

Urban and nocturnal in nature, Antonin embraces this vibrant energy which in turn accelerates his spiral into rough, carnal and violent experiences.

His deep longing for love and affection frequently finds Antonin trying to project that need onto his clients, but most treat him with contempt. The exception is a repeat client Baptiste (Hicham Nazzal), who develops an affection for Antonin and offers that affection with compassion. Baptiste offers him a job at his video store and an escape from the world of prostitution. Antonin at first declines, but later accepts after he reunites with deceased Alex's friends and in the process meets Juliette, a vivacious beauty and a seemingly kindred spirit. Antonin falls in love with her and she claims to love him in return however she is harboring a dark secret and a part of her life that when revealed will rock Antonin to his core.

Through his experiences he finds tenderness, support and loyalty in places where he least expects it; revealing to him the ability to reach out with a tolerance of all aspects of love and self-discovery.

The film also features Christine Boisson, Jean-Michel Fête , Patricia Dagmev , Caroline Ducey (Catherine Breillat’s "The Last Mistress") and Franck Victor ("The Diving Bell and the Butterfly").
